2021 Ski Season and Covid 19

With the 2020 Ski  and Covid 19 the season was forced to be cut short due to the outbreak. Recently, with the winter fast approaching, many people across Europe have been asking us, will I be able to go skiing in 2021?

2021 Skiing and Covid 19

Resorts across Europe are actively taking positive actions to keep skiers and snowboarders safe. Requirements such as face masks and hand sanitiser which are now familiar with us all will be in place on the slopes. Additionally, chalets and hotels are adapting and some are even providing contact-free check in, manned buffets and regular testing of staff. You might even find the slopes a little quieter in 2021 as some resorts are limiting hotels and chalets to 70% capacity to aid with social distancing.

Many resorts are going the extra mile working with local governments and tourism boards to create the safest environments possible. Enhanced testing regimes are being rolled out for employees of accommodation providers, restaurants and lift/transport workers. Ski Lifts and Cable Cars will be regularly disinfected and have a reduced capacity likely limited to one group/household. Expect table service in bars and restaurants and Apres Ski to be mainly outside in the fresh air.

The 2021 Ski Season is expected to go ahead despite Covid 19 and flying by private jet in 2021 will help keep your group safe while also providing the usual benefits. Travel in an aircraft dedicated for your party which has been fully sanitised between each trip. Reduce your overall travel time by using private terminals meaning you can arrive at the airport 15 minutes before departure.

Private Jet To Lapland

Lapland is Finland’s most northern region and attracts thousands of visitors each year. Perfect for Christmas trips or romantic getaways, visiting during winter is nothing short of magical. There’s no better way to start (and end) your trip than taking a private jet to Lapland.

Lapland Weather

With Lapland being in the arctic circle, temperatures between December and April stay below 0°C. With the best activities in Lapland being outdoors its essential you wrap up warm throughout your trip. Across the whole region there is so much to do, some of our favourites include; downhill and cross country Skiing, snow mobile safaris, ice fishing, dog sledding, meeting reindeer to name a few.

Even though there are so many amazing things to do in Lapland, our highlight has to be the incredible Aurora Borealis. Best seen from towns in the north which have low levels of light pollution such as Levi or Ylläs. You can even stay in an igloo room and see the amazing scenes from the privacy of your bed.

Private Jet to Lapland and Aurora Borealis

Lapland Airports

The main airports serving Lapland are Rovaniemi, which is the capital of the region & Kittila. However, other airports serve smaller towns and connect the expansive region. With the flight time from London to Rovaniemi around 3 hours, we would recommend a Super Light Jet or larger for flights to Lapland. For a large family a Midsize private jet would also be a fantastic choice giving more room and a stand up cabin. Whichever aircraft you choose, flying to Lapland by private jet will reduce the travel time and increase your comfort.

When flying to cold regions, the likely hood of aircraft de-icing measures being required increases. Our private jet charter experts will help advise you on de-icing measures including arranging a hanger for your plane if necessary. Putting your plane in a hanger can reduce and sometimes remove the need for aircraft de-icing.

Skiing By Private Jet

Wherever you’re heading to ski this year, dBB Aviation’s experts are ready to assist you with getting to the slopes. Our experienced team will take the stress out of arranging the flights and transfers.

Depending on which resort you’re travelling to, you can save up to 7 hours when skiing by private jet. Skiing by private jet allows you to reduce check in time to 15 minutes, meaning within 20 minutes of arriving at the airport you can be airborne and on the way. Compared to travelling on a commercial airline with a European flight check in time of 2 hours.

Skiing by Private Jet

Private Jets can also access airports which commercial aircraft cannot, getting you closer to your resort. You can fly direct to airports such as Sion, Samedan and Gstaad can reduce ground transfer time by up to 90%. Down from 90 minutes to just 8 minutes in some cases!

Prefer skiing or boarding with your own equipment? Many aircraft have dedicated storage for your ski gear. Simply turn up to the airport and place your bags and kit on the trolley and let the private terminal staff handle the rest. No need to check your ski bag into the oversized baggage area and long waits at baggage claim on arrival.

Luxury Ski Chalet

dBB Aviation’s experienced team can even help with arranging door to door transfers. All you need to worry about is making sure you’ve packed enough warm gear! If you want to reduce the travel time even further we can book helicopters transfers so you can be at your resort minutes after landing. Skiing by private jet is a great way to get the family to the Alps with less hassle.

Courchevel Airport

Private Jet to Courchevel

Many of our customers travelling to The Alps ask us, can I take a private jet to Courchevel?

Even though Courchevel has an airport in the heart of the Alps visible from the slopes, there are many restrictions and limitations due to safety. Read on to find out more about what can and cant land at Courchevel.

Courcheval Airport With short runway to land private jets
The Piste Next To Courchevel Airport
Limitations and Restrictions

There are several restrictions which mean many private jets cannot land at Courchevel including; the short runway 537 metres, the runway gradient as seen in the image above and video below. the no go around approach which means pilots only get one chance at landing. Are you travelling from outside the Schengen Area? Courchevel does not have customs, meaning flights originating outside mainland Europe are not possible.

Who Can Land At Courchevel?

For a private jet to land at Courchevel they must meet strict criteria including; be flying from inside the Schengen Area and have sufficient performance to land on a short runway. Most charter aircraft which have good enough performance will legally require a longer runway. However, there are some prop aircraft such as a Pilatus PC12, Partenavia P68 and Aviator TP600 and even these may require strict weight limits to safely operate.  Furthermore, the weather is always a factor worth considering at Courchevel for both private jets and helicopters. There are some small private jets which can fly into Courchevel with 4 people, our team would be very happy to explain more.

Alternative Airports to Courchevel

With all of the limiting factors we always recommend using a larger airport in the surrounding area for your trip. We understand that ski trips can be stressful so our knowledgeable team can assist you with end to end logistics for your trip. With this in mind, we will find the closest airport, the right private jet and can even arrange helicopter transfers. All you need to do is simply tell the team where you will be staying and we will do the rest.
